The Golden Slipper Stakes:
The 2010 Golden Slipper Stakes is the 54th edition of this 1,200-metre, Group 1 race for two-year-old horses. This right-handed, flat race is participated by 15 race horses and Crystal Lily emerged victorious to claim a big share of the $3.5 million prize pool. Guided by Jockey Brett Prebble, Crystal Lily won the race from the first barrier and she carried betting odds of 6.50 coming into the race.
Other race favourites include Military Rose which is the top favourite for the race with betting odds of 3.60. Many punters predicted that Military Rose would win the race but she drew the eight barrier of the race. Boarded by jockey Stathi Katsidis, Military Rose finished in eleventh spot. Prior to the race, Military Rose won the 2010 Magic Millions 2YO Guineas.
Decision Time took the second barrier while Chance Bye started in the third barrier. Decision Time carried betting odds of 18.00 while Chance Bye was given betting odds of 10.00. During the race, Decision Time was partnered by jockey Craig Williams while Chance Bye was in the hands of Kathy O’ Hara. Decision Time and Chance Bye finished in second and ninth place respectively.
Starting from the 14th barrier is More Strawberries which carried betting odds of 31.00 coming into the race. However, jockey Damien Oliver guided the horse in grand fashion to grab a third place finish. Next to More Strawberries on the 15th barrier is Shaheeq with betting odds of 21.00 and finished in the tenth spot with jockey Steven Arnold.
Another race favourite is Bright Expectations which came in with betting odds of 6.00 and he started the race from the fourth barrier. Though it was multi-titled jockey Nash Rawiller who guided Bright Expectations for the 2010 Golden Slipper Stakes, their partnership finished in 12th place. Bright Expectations is trained by Gai Waterhouse.
Drawing the fifth barrier for the 2010 Golden Slipper Stakes is Hinchinbrook which had betting odds of 15.00. Hinchinbrook was guided by jockey Darren Beadman and they finished in fourth place. Meanwhile, Beneteau started from the sixth gate and carried betting odds of 11.00. However, jockey Michael Rodd was not able to capitalize on Beneteau’s talent and they finished in fifth place.
Lohan jumped from the seventh barrier and she was tagged with betting odds of 151.00. Since little is expected from the horse, she finished near the end of the pack at 13th place. Lohan was steered that day by jockey Jay Ford. Out of the ninth barrier is Georgette Silk with betting odds of 61.00 and she finished in 14th place with jockey Glen Boss on board.
Carved in Stone came out of barrier number ten and he was tagged with betting odds by the bookmakers of 51.00. Guided by jockey Tye Angland, Carved in Stone crossed the finished line in seventh place. Elimbari started next to Carved in Stone at barrier eleven and she had betting odds of 81.00. However, Elimbari and jockey Glyn Schofield finished in last place.
Obsequious started the race on the 12th barrier with betting odds 31.00. Despite the low betting odds, he and jockey Kerrin McEvoy finished at the middle of the pack in eighth spot. Solar Charged proved to be the biggest surprise of the 2010 Golden Slipper Stakes for he finished in sixth place despite starting from the 13th gate. Solar Charged had betting odds of 13.00 and was ridden by jockey Hugh Bowman.
