The 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes:

The Caulfield horse racing turf has a circumference of 2,080 and a straight of 367 metres. It resembles the shape of a triangle and it has sweeping long corners. Also, the track has an uphill part along the back of the course at the start of 1,400-metre races. Due to its sharp corners and short straight, it would be hard for horses to pull off a come-from behind victory.

At the third declarations for the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes, 162 thoroughbreds remain to have a shot at the Blue Diamond Stakes. Undefeated race horse Sepoy Remains in the mix as well as the Peter Moody-trained One Last Dance. Still in contention are two impressive bloodline horses: Exceed and Excel’s colt Helmet and Redoute’s Choice filly Glissade.

Also in the running for the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes are the Tim Martin-trained Anevay, Covered in Class, Metonymy, Holdontoyahorses and Delago Lad. Other top horses that vie for a Blue Diamond Stakes spot are Grand Britannia, Satin Shoes and Pane In the Glass.

For the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes, Sepoy now has the highest win betting odds at 3.90 and place betting odds of 2.00. Right behind is One Last Dance with win betting odds of 8.00 and place betting odds of 2.37. At third is Delago’s Lad with win betting odds of 9.50 while Anevay was tagged with betting odds of 11.00.

Not far behind is Holdontoyahorses with win betting odds of 15.00. Boys on Tour and Glissade have identical win betting odds of 14.00. Also, Metonymy has win betting odds of 17.00 while Amour Cache, Cape Canaveral, Arctic Command and Helping Hand have betting odds of 18.00. Satin Shoes and Soul Manna have betting odds of 19.00 and 26.00 respectively.

Betting options for the Caulfield Cup can be categorized into two: standard bets and exotic bets. Classified under the standard bets are the win bet, the place bet and the each-way bet. In the win bet, you simply have to pick the race horse that will win the race. For the place bet, you will pick the horses that you think will finish first, second and third and you will win if you get any of the three places right.

For the each-way bet, you can place two bets on one horse. This means that you can have one of two payouts if your chosen horse wins the Caulfield Cup or if it finished second or third. This bet is ideal especially if there are three equally-talented race horses in a particular race.

Meanwhile, exotic bets involve a number of horses and they are harder to satisfy given the higher volume of horses needed to complete the bet. Experienced punters take on these bets for they have followed the nuances of betting odds and past performances of a Caulfield Cup participant. Under the exotic odds are the trifecta bet, the quinella bet, the exacta bet and the first four bet.

For the trifecta bet, you must pick the three race horses that will cross the 2010 Caulfield Cup finish line first in exact order. Meanwhile, the quinella bet requires that you pick the first two horses that will finish the race regardless of order. If you want a tougher bet, the exacta bet requires you to pick the top two horses that will finish the race in exact order.
