Although Hinchinbrook is scheduled to race at the Caulfield Guineas, the Gerald Ryan-trained Hinchinbrook will not compete in the $1 million Golden Rose Stakes. The one-time Golden Rose Stakes favourite will not compete in the said horse race for Ryan decided that this Group 1 race comes too soon given the fact that the three-year-old race horse missed a vital lead-up run last week.

Because of an elevated race morning temperature, Hinchinbrook was taken out of the Starlight Stakes during the weekend. Ryan told Sky Sports Radio that if ever he wants Hinchinbrook to compete at the 2010 Golden Rose Stakes, he would want him to have a race trial before the race itself but that might aggravate the situation.

However, Ryan said that Hinchinbrook will still race during the Golden Rose Stakes day at the 1100-metre, Group 3 Concorde Stakes. This will now be Hinchinbrook’s starting race for his spring racing carnival campaign. From then on, Ryan will decide whether the colt will compete in the Heritage Stakes and the Stan Fox Stakes before deciding on whether to compete at the 1600-metre Caulfield Guineas.

Ryan said that competing in the Heritage Stakes gives his team two weeks to prepare for the Caulfield Guineas. He added that if the colt is not going to run at the 1600-metre Guineas, he would certainly run at a 1200-metre race at the Caulfield racecourse. Before he was taken out of the competition, Hinchinbrook has a Golden Rose Stakes Sportsbet betting odd of 9.00. For the Caulfield Guineas, he has the third highest betting odd with 17.00.

For the 2010 Golden Rose, Crystal Lily proves to be the early favourite with a 7.50 early market betting odd. Not to be left behind are Bright Expectations, Masquerader and Military Rose with a betting odd of 12.00 while Decision Time and Pressday both have 15.00 betting odds.
