Several horse race meetings are held in the Kranji Racecourse yearly. In May, Kranji Racecourse hosts the Singapore Airlines International Cup and the KrisFlyer International Sprint. The Singapore International Cup runs races with a distance of 2,000 meters, while the KrisFlyer International Sprint runs race with a distance of 1,200 meters. In July, Kranji Racecourse hosts the Singapore Derby, which is a 2,000 meter race event exclusive to four year old horses.

The 2011 Queensland Oaks was first held in 1951 at the Eagle Farm Racecourse and it was a principal race back then. In 1979, the race was elevated to Group 1 status and Prunella won the first Queensland Oaks as a Group 1 race. Since then, this 2400-metre set weights race for three-year-old fillies has been a main attraction during the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival every first weekend of June.
Ever since the Queensland Oaks was held, it was only cancelled once and that was in 1957. Also, the Queensland Oaks has not seen a multiple winner due to the quality field that this race attracts every year. Due to the set weights nature of the race with the set weight at 55.5 kilograms, the better horses have the advantage in the race as long as they do not incur injuries.
The Eagle Farm Racecourse, the home turf of the race, has a circumference of 2037 metres and a home straight of 434 metres. Races here are staged counter-clockwise. The 2003 Queensland Oaks went to Zagalia at the expense of The Jewel and Penny Gem in 2 minutes, 29.2 seconds. The 2004 Queensland Oaks went to Vouvray in 2 minutes, 27 seconds and it won over Zumanity and Winning Belle. Vitesse Dane is the winner of the 2005 Queensland Oaks and she won over Cinque Cento and Tick By in 2 minutes, 27.4 seconds.
The 2006 Queensland Oaks was won by Allow which finished in 2 minutes, 31.4 seconds and won over runner-up Vietnam and third place Stars in Flight. Eskimo Queen is the winner of the 2007 Queensland Oaks and she finished the race in front of Dougs Mate and Rose of Sharon in 2 minutes, 32.6 seconds. Riva San won the 2008 Queensland Oaks over Rathsallagh and Heavenly Glow in 2 minutes, 36.4.
Purple is the victor of the 2009 Queensland Oaks with a time of 2 minutes, 34.3 seconds and she won over Nothin Leica Cat and Walk in the Park. The 2010 Queensland Oaks went to Miss Keepsake in 2 minutes, 29.45 seconds over Marheta and Danaupair Starlet.
